You can clear out a number of temporary repositories in vista such as c:\windows\softwaredistribution\download.
There are also vista service pack cleanup programs on your computer you can run. (e.g. SP2 cleanup programs is called Compcln.exe)

Check this article, but do be careful: http://www.optimizingpc.com/optimize/deletefiles.html

or just buy a bigger drive before something breaks :)
  • As for external hard drives, there are loads around, and you'll see 1TB drives for c.£50 from time to time. I'll let others comment on their reliability! I personally am happy with my 1TB Seagate drive I got for £55. And split infinitives ;)

you can buy a very good 1TB drive for under £50 however you will almost certainly find its a 3.5" desktop mains powered external one rather than the smaller pocket sized 2.5" drives that need no external power that might be more appropriate for use with a laptop

    Is this an Acer?
I've seen an Acer (laptop) with this size C: drive and Vista.
It also had a much larger, unused D:,and no, the D: is not the recovery partition.
If this is the case, then you could move some data over.
    Move along, nothing to see.
