Hi there, I'm a designer & just wanted to give you a few tips on Wundaweb, Sew Simple, etc:
Wundaweb/fusible hemming tape is a very useful hemming tape. Simply fold & iron your hem to the desired measurement, then unfold again & place the fusible tape underneath. Take care to use the correct ironing temperature for your fabric. Generally, fusibles become permanent with some steam + a high temp, but like I said before, MAKE SURE your fabric can tolerate it!!! It is safe in the washing machine.
Sew Simple is made by Bostik & is a liquid permanent bond for clothing/fabric repairs and alterations, e.g. hemming & seaming as well as repairs. Make sure you only use a fine thread of the stuff, you can then spread it with your finger, then wait about a minute, then join the 2 sides. It doesn't need any ironing/heat, etc. and is safe in the washing machine.
Sewing -the real deal- but can be time consuming. I suggest a good Janome machine, they are now the most inexpensive yet most technologically advanced machines. I've tried the likes of Singer, Pfaff, Bernina etc but nowadays in my opinion, the Janome models offer the best value/quality (...no, I'm not a shareholder!!!)
Nothing beats sewing, it's therapeutic as well, but if you need to repair a curtain without removing it, maybe it's a little impractical...
Well, I hope this helps you all.
Happy sewing & enjoy releasing the creativity you thought you didn't have!!!
