I think Haven may make just as much money from private hire as they do hiring themselves which takes more workforce and a great deal of time, which is why so many of their plots are allocated to people that will deal with rentals themselves.
It's quite clever the way that Haven works.
You'll notice that they keep pushing private caravan ownership schemes.
If Haven were to own their own accomodation, they'd need to ensure maximum occupancy in order to turn a profit. An empty caravan would mean no profit for Haven.
Instead, and this is the clever bit, most of their caravans are privately owned, on which a monthly ground rent is payable!
This means that even if the caravans are empty, Haven are still receiving a substantial income. They can't lose!
If the caravan is rented out then Haven benefit still further-they'll take a percentage as a fee before passing the rest on to the caravan owner. (That's why you see so many lets advertised privately-to avoid Haven taking their 'booking' fee)
It's this continuous flow of cash from van owners that enable Haven to keep re-investing in their resorts.
