Just interested as most of you will know VF promised the update within 7-10 days (on the 10th) in response to the 360 bloatware fiasco.
Just wondering if its being pushed out yet and its staggered?

How is it that vodafone are pushing out the firmware rather than the manufacturer?
I have an iphone but all updates come via apple and never via the network provider.0 -

Well uk phone companies like to test and alter (always for the worse - ie removing tethering, adding bloat ware and branding etc) to software, so any new updates on branded firmware have to go through testing before the phone companies giv the go ahead and distribute it onwards.
Sim free ones bought outside networks providers get updates from HTC.
Not sure why the iphone doesnt go through this process though, as its down to the providers rather than apple themselves (unless apple stipulate they cannot alter the software in order to sell the iphone)Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Hell I have an unbranded Desire and the update was less than perfect (it broke my 2nd email account syncing - known issue).. so if you RELY on that, don't install the update just yet. HTC are working on a fix but Google have been saying that for weeks...Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

That's probably about the only good thing about an iPhone.
I think Google are going to push Android updates out via the Android Market after 2.2 so the mobile companies can't add all their sh*tty software before they release it.0 -

When you say second, do you mean anything but the google email you need to use market etc? as i use hotmail for my main and only email (so thats the only one set to sync up).Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
To be honest, I have my desire 2.2 update and both my g-mail and my sky account do sync without issue. In fact 2.2 has brought better battery life and a quicker phone and no issues, so I am well happy.0
