when ive had problems with my laptop that have proved hard to fix ive used the system restore tool to take it back to factory settings......earlier it began going funny and being a bit impatient i thought i would just do this but when i tried it said i had to put the disc in because the restore partition has been removed?????????

the only think i have done is had my drives formatted to free up space - could it have deleted what is needed to take my laptop back to factory settings.....?

luckily the problem is fixed and i was being too impatient but i may need this rescue in the future so any advice please?

its a HP 530 running windows vista home basic notebook pc....

thanks..x

    Yes, it does sound as if you have erased your Recovery Partition. Other options would be to get hold of a disc in order to run a clean install or to try to get an image or disc from another owner.

    well - i followed donnies instructions but when i put the disc in it loads a while and then i get;

    stagus; 0xc00000e9 an undexpected 1/0 error has occurred....

    .windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external usb drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or cd-rom drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer................if you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer........

    does this mean its on its way out??????????/

    thanks

    Have you checked the disc on another computer? Do you put the disc in and re-boot?

    Is the HDD recognised in the BIOS?

    Back later....

    ill try the disc in another computer like suggested ...thanks

    it isnt giving me the options to re-boot - use can use the press alt/delete/ctrl to retry which then gives me the f9 or f10 option.............

    how would i find the bios to check if the hdd is showing up with just the above options please?

    also - i think my laptop could be about 3 or 4 years old now - its still on the wireless g rather than wireless n that up to date ones have built in now.............also ive found one of my usb gave up the ghost a few weeks ago so im down to the one.........could it just be its on its way out and time to buy a new one??????

    thanks...x
