FREE Paint pod compact with ANY dulux product @ B&Q, starts this friday

Options
Just seen this deal being set up on a visit to my local B&Q this morning. Starting this friday B&Q are giving away a Paint Pod Compact, from dulux, when you buy ANY dulux product.
I have had my eye on a full size paint pod for a couple of weeks, but with this deal I will be more than happy with the compact.
The member of staff told me it was starting on Friday and they are expecting it to fly out... opens @ 07.00!

Compact PaintPod
The Dulux PaintPod Compact is the smaller sibling to Dulux's PaintPod roller painting system. Both release paint onto the roller at the press of a button, but the Compact is cheaper (£44.99 RRP versus £69.99), smaller and lighter. You simply clamp the battery-powered header unit on to the pot of special paint.

So, is the Compact really worth the extra expense over a traditional roller and tray, especially as it lacks the big PaintPod’s self-cleaning system? We gave it a try, with rather mixed results.

Using the PaintPod Compact
On the positive side, the Dulux PaintPod Compact can cover large areas quickly once it’s up and running, and leaves a very smooth finish. It almost banishes the spatter effect of a traditional roller, but not quite. If you've left paint on the roller and then move it suddenly, it will slop paint.

Working out how much paint is on the roller takes a little getting used to. Initially, we found it difficult to judge. This improved with practice, but the difference between well-loaded and over-loaded is only a couple of seconds’ button-pushing. And a traditional roller is inevitably much lighter; our arms began to droop three-quarters of the way across a not enormous ceiling.

The reviews are pretty shocking, even worse than the full size product.
    Gone ... or have I?

Just a warning before anyone commits to buying a load of the paint pod paint, my brother bought one of the full sized systems when he moved, and i can say from personal experience that it was a complete pain in the you know what! So heavy, and the paint went on so thin it would have needed 5 coats. It went in the bin and we did a much better and quicker job with the old roller and tray. Sorry to the op for putting a downer on your thread, but its horrid to be disappointed in a fab deal! And its a brill spot if the offer does suit someone!

Thats what is good about this site people can read the replys and deside for themselfs.

I have one and i like it.

I have done the whole house with it but yes one room took 2 coats but i now just pour my own paint into the original dulux paint pod tin and its is thicker so one coat is enough and a lot cheaper

The full size one is a piece of crap to be honest, pods cost way too much and colour choices were very limited, so not expecting miracles from the compact. Speaks volumes that they are resorting to giving it away.

Can anyone confirm here: I buy a £10 pot of Dulux and I get a £45 paint pod for free? (just sounds too good to be true!) whats the catch?

From looking at the reviews on the site, presumably they are sick of people complaining about them and having to dole out replacement parts. :)

I quite fancied one until I read them
