Help Idea's re starting price

Am about to list a book on ebay with a reserve price.
What would be the best price to start at?
I should imagine most people realise that min reserve is 50.00.
So is it silly to start at a low price
Thanks in advance

Why use a reserve? Just decide on the lowest you are prepared to accept and have that as your starting price. Cheaper and less annoying for potential buyers.0

Hello,
In my opinion having a low starting price and higher reserve price is sometimes a good idea...
People often search for items in a specific price range and if your item falls into that range then they will take a look. Therefore in order to generate 'buyer interest' in your item sometimes a lower starting price, than your reserve price, is a good idea.
Hope this helps.0 -
Hi thanks for your replies.
Not sure which way to go with this one!!!
I know what the book is worth and what my lowest price would be, but starting to high may put buyers off, as may a reserve, on the other hand do not want it to go for peanuts (Made quite a loss on a book that finished sunday had loads of bid's and watchers but the price stayed the same, even in the last few mins!!!
) Oh well will have to ponder this one awhile.
Thanks again0 -
If you don't want it to go for peanuts then list it for the minimum you are willing to accept. Reserves annoy me. You might as well start it at the reserve price if you are going to have one.
Oh and something is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it

I agree. I instantly lose interest on an auction with a reserve.shelly wrote:If you don't want it to go for peanuts then list it for the minimum you are willing to accept. Reserves annoy me. Quick point. have you thought about Amazon? No fees until it sells!0

Ah, but imagine the Amazon fees on a book worth £50+! :eek:My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I had someone refund my payment for a winning bid today. I suspect that they were not satisfied with the finish price! No explanation, just the automated email from them/paypal telling me i had been re-credited! Ever come across this before?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

Yes i did look at amazon, but the fee's were in the region of about 15.00:eek:
I am just going to put it on ebay at my lowest price and hope for the best!!!0 -
I bought a book today for £1 in a charity shop, i suspect it to be pre war, so am thinking of listing it tomorrow in the 5p BIN session, think £5 or £6 BIN should do it, esp as i bought it for £1!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0
