Hi there
How can i turn off ZoneAlarm, self-protection.
the reason i want to do this is to allow my friend to configure zonealarm via remote support (teamviewer) but until this feature is turned off this can not be done.
many thanks
this is what teamviewer said via email
ZoneAlarm has an option by default activated called self-protection, which prevents the control of it by using TeamViewer. You can turn off the self-protection in ZoneAlarm and after that everything is controllable.

Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Uninstall.
Seriously.
Zonealarm has been worthless since XP SP3 came out and even more redundant on Vista/Windows 7 and definitely so on anything connected to a router using NAT. It causes more problems than it cures.0 -
Open up ZoneAlarm Control Center.
On the left panel go to "Overview" and select "Preferences" from the list
Under the "General" heading untick the box "Protect the ZoneAlarm client"
After that it should be fixed, those accessing the computer from TeamViewer now have control over ZoneAlarm.0
