PAC code - time to process?

My PAC code from Orange runs out on 27th Aug. I dont want to leave it too late because I understand if it goes past this date, I've got to give 30 days notice again. :-(

Then again, I dont want to swap too early either...

Any idea how long it takes to process a PAC code? (specifically to Virgin).

Why are you delaying if you want to leave - afaik you just need to give it to Virgin while it's valid, probably wouldn't hurt to build in a couple of extra days to be sure. Have you checked with Virgin?
  • Because I've got to pay for the contract with Orange until the end of the PAC code (30 days whatever). So I want to get use out of it as long as possible.
  • If you've given Orange notice, you should be able to get them to switch you on to a PAYG tariff with your phone number. Then get a new PAC code and switch whenever you like.

... but if you do ask to switch to PAYG on their network I believe your 30 days notice period will start again? The standard for processing PAC is now 2 business days, bar any problems (and will be only 1 day from next year if I recall). Use it on 24th and you will still have use of the phone until the same time on 26th (or use 25th and it will end on 27th but check on the network website to be sure). Or you could get a PAYG sim for another network to keep your number until you are ready to move.
