Hi,
W e signed up to multiroom about 3 weeks ago with sky, and we have talktalk broadband. We have noticed since getting this service that it has slowed down our broadband and disconnecting it. we have an exstenion socket wired from the master socket, when u unplug this socket and use the test socket the speed shoots back up again. both the sky box and the broadband connect are connected to micro filters and i have replaced both of these to see if it improves the speed but with no luck
.
Any help would be great.

Why are you using TalkTalk if you subscribe to Sky? No Sky LLU on your exchange?
Is the extension socket hard wired to the master, if it is disconnect all wires except those connected to 2 & 5, it is is not and you have a trailing extension lead, ditch it and hard wire it correctly. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
It could well be your extension wiring causing problems, have a look at the back of the master socket faceplate where its wired and carefully disconnect any wire connected to pin 3.
Pin 3 is the bell wire thats not required by moderm phones, it introduces noise onto the line which can cause problems with ADSL.
Its a little unclear how things are wired, ideally your router should be plugged in at the master socket. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi Router is pluggd into the master socket, and the bell wire is diconnected as i doen the wiring myself. Am temped to buy a exstenion lead with a splitter, cause just reconnected my broadband and i got over 3.5kbps and now am getting under 1kbps, this is driving me insane lol0

What cable did you use? Proper twisted pair telephony cable? A correctly wired extension should make no difference to your broadband connection. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Am guessing ive wired it correctly because am getting a dialing tone from the line0

Do you not understand the significance of question marks?
You would get dial tone if you used twin & earth mains cable!

So which colour wires did you connect to which terminals at the master and at the extension?
A few more metres of cable for extra sockets should make no difference to your broadband if wired properly - how long is the cable from your property to the exchange. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Am not sure how far the exhange is, but am now getting 3408kbps, this is the fastest it has been going with the sky box connected, i dont understand?????0

When we got sky HD, it effected our broadband - it was dropping the connection every 5 - 10 mins. Unplugged sky from the telephone line and it resolved the problem. As we dont use sky interactive, have just left it this way since.0
