Invest in a whistle. Anytime you get a call from them, blow it down the phone as hard as you can. Couple of times of that and they tend not to call back... :D

Doesn't work, especially if the company is situated abroad.

I am registered with TPS and still get calls. I just wind them up now, give them fake answers, make up names and dates of birth, the amount of accidents I have had in the last three years it is a wonder I am still alive. As long as you never give out any real personal information such as bank details, NI numbers, correct DOB etc.

If you get a phone call next day to confirm details just deny everything, wasn't me, I didn't do it, who? Oh! he died in his sleep last night, he was arrested for having !!!!!! on his computer. Such fun

And the beauty of it all is, they haven't a clue who you were in the first place, you are just a randomly dialed number and if are calling from abroad they don't know who lives in 10 Downing Street.

Only speak to them using lines from Arnold Schwarznegger movies. If you can do the accent, even better.

They are phishing for information to scam you one way or another or steal your identity. The more you talk to them, the more they will ring you and they will deliberately wind you up to catch you off your guard. They love people who try to wind them up because eventually you will let something slip or ask to speak to the manager (the guy at the next desk, of course) who will ask you for your details so that he can take your name off their list (which he won't do anyway) - and your number will be sold on to other scammers and you'll start getting calls from them.

They are based abroad and have no regard whatsoever for TPS or OFTEL. The CLI will show a phone number that does not exist. The only way to deal with them is to pick the phone up, ask them who's calling (to register that you have acknowledged the call) and immediately put the phone down.

If they can't engage you in conversation they can't get information from you and, to them, that is a true waste of their time. The calls will diminish in frequency and finally go away when your number is recorded as a non-responder.

If you do not answer the call at all, they will log you as "out during normal times" and start calling you at night.
