E7even gone, do I still need a MAC?

Hi,
I was with E7even but since they terminated service, I've been using dial up. If I now want to go with another broadband ISP, do I need to get a MAC or should my line be free?

The reason I ask is because I went to sign up with Freeola.com for their 3 month trial and the process informs me that my line is already adsl enabled and that I need a MAC code.......I don't have one!0

I would say that yes you do need a MAC code,
This is a unique identifyer which BT wholesale would give to your present ISP to pass onto your new ISP to identify your line, as you say E7even has now gone then your line has been left enabled which could leave you a problem,
I would suggest as I dont think you can talk to BT wholesale directly, that you contact the new isp you are wanting to go with on the phone and see if they can help0 -
Id put your number in the bt checker and see what it says.

If says you still have broadband then give bt tags a call and explain the situation and they should be able to remove the marker for you.

You will not need a MAC, nor would you be able to obtain one. There should be no marker on your line by now, all ADSL and markers should have been removed from E7 customers' lines.
If the checkers show that there is still a marker on your line, as nex0 says contact the BT marker helpline to have it removed. 0800 169 95760 -
Thanks guys. There was a Tiscali tag. Probably the cowboy outfit that E7 handed over to. A bit mistifying as I never took their offer up!
Thanks anyway0 -
I too was in the same position as yourself. But about 14 July, they started removing the tags. I was informed that once the tag had gone, whoever I chose as my new isp, they would be able to create a new one, which is what happened. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
