Your printer will print whatever size of print that you produce in Photoshop by re-sizing the image. i.e. I could create a 9" x 6" image containing 12 individual passport photographs on it. Obviously these individual pictures have to be printed at exactly the right size of 35mm x 45mm but this is defined when the image is created in PhotoShop and not by the printer.

Perhaps you need to read the help section on re-sizing images.

  • Thanks very much, resizing in CS `almost` got me there.

When I resized to 8x6 in the action first, then went through the print set up (portrait) the first picture printed perfectly.

Followed the same routine for landscape, first print perfect, but when I tried printing the first orientation again, it printed across the middle of the page.

    Sequence

Set up portrait action assigned F2. tested by pressing F2 perfect print.
Set up landscape action assigned F9 tested by pressing F9 Perfect print.
Pressed F2 again, woooops, printed landcape.

I am guessing that changing the print orientation is one of the things that `can`t` be included in a action.

Has it all been for nothing..... x*&%$^%&())

    Thanks again.

Perhaps you could simply leave your printer set to Portrait mode, and then if the picture needs to be rotated by 90 degrees, use a Landscape action to rotate/re-size in PhotoShop. For the Portrait picture action, just miss the rotate out of the action.

You can't control your printer using an action, although as you have already created two re-size actions F2 - Portrait, F9 - Landscape, I don't see why you can't have an image rotate canvas included in one of these actions.

Yes, I appreciate that but I can`t get it to print 6x8 doing it manually. The printer can print 6x8 or 6x9 on the same media.

In the printer menu I can choose 6x8 but the closest I can get in CS is 5.332 x 8 with a white border down each edge.

When I see a picture in CS (landscape) I go to File>Print with preview
I see the pic in the small preview window zoomed into the centre of the pic.
    Scaled print size shows 100%
If I tick the `Scale to fit media` box, I can now see all the pic in the preview window window but with a white border top and bottom. That will print OK, but with the white border.
If I don`t click `Scale to fit media` and instead change the 100% to say 28% I can fill the preview box with most of the pic. The % figure changes though with each picture so could not be included in an action.

Now if the previous picture I printed was in Portrait and the next taken in landscape I have to go into the printer settings to change this too.

    MMmmmmmmmm Perhaps it`s just me..

can CS print 8x6, anyone know ????

I use PS alot, but i never really use it for photos (wait, tats sounds silly). I meean, i never use ift from a camera, i always start from scratch.

Can't you just resize the picture to the selected size, then print directly from PS?
If i have missed something please poke me.
  • Thanks Espresso, I hear what you say ut it does`nt work.

I need to take a picture and print it quickly, yes it can be done as described in my original post, just looking for a quicker way.

May have to print 200 in a short space of time.

    Thanks
