"Now, i only bought this car a lot of months ago and when i bought it , it had locking wheel nuts which i hate cos i always end up loosing the unlocking tool lol .

To avoid this happening i had ALL 16 wheel nuts changed to "ordinary" wheel nuts. I had the new wheel nuts fitted by a mechanic about 7 weeks ago whilst he was doing repairs to my cv joints etc."

You simply continue to confuse us

Firstly, all cars with locking wheel nuts have only got 4 of them (I'm sure there are exceptions but they are exactly that) but you had a mechanic who replaced 16 of them, sorry no he actually replaced 14 of them but didn't tell you that until afterwards or was that only 12 since your husband had already broken some - did your husband tell you he had broken some or did you only find out when you were driving the car with only 2 wheels still attached to the car. Or did your husband tell you he had broken some when he discovered that the mechanic had actually broken 2.
What sort of mechanic did you take it to, he breaks wheel nuts and can't do anything about it but a McGowans fitter can simply remove the broken nuts - were the broken nuts security wheel nuts in which case you paid to have 16 wheel nus changed but only effectively had 2 changed.

You still need to apoilogise to DMXDAVE for your attitude - say what you like about me - I DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think the OPs original post didnt state clearly enough that she replaced all the nuts even the ones that were already normal, to normal, i also dont know why you did this, you only needed to replace 4, this could have limited the amount of damage which has happened.

it would be interesting to see if the bolts whichsnapped were the ones which used to have locking nuts on them as they may have been made in such a way that they cant easily or safely be replaced by non0locking nuts. you should chekc this first.

i personally dont like the idea of locking nuts for the very reason that the part to unlock them can be easily lost, but at the same time i wouldn't mess with whats already on my car incase something like this did happen, it can make arguing your case slightly harder.

i also recommend gilnahirk tyres, they are renown for their service.
