Town and City Parking ?made up ticket?

  • hello.
I received 2 separate 'parking tickets' from Town and City in the last few months and on both occasions i was parked on a public road leading to a private business park.

I ignored the original tickets/notices/whatever. I have since received a letter which claimed i was parked without a valid permit some time in the year 2000 (which is in itself a feat as my car is a 52 plate)

So the usual process of ignoring them continued until today when i received a message from my wife stating that AA hutton had called the house and wanted me to call them back.

Against, every instinct i had i foolishly did so, only to be met with girl telling me that town and city has issued me with a "parking fine".
After some brief arguing where i denied ever having had my car on the private area they claimed and disputed the Town and Cities legal right to issue 'parking fines' the conversation came to and end. I asked the girl to listen to what i was saying and when she told me that she had "listened to me quite enough" i hung up.

has anyone else had these cheeky f**kers calling them? I intend to ignore all future calls and report them for making nuisance calls if they continue.

    Any other advice?

    Cheers

    The year 2000 ?
That is so outrageous I have to ask, are you sure that it is not a misprint ?

Some of these companies do seem to have a tenuous grasp on what bars them.

If they ticket on a public road (confirmed for a fact as public road) then it is Fraud.
Trading Standards may be interested but that rather depends which part of the country is involved.
Any branch of Trading Standards should be interested of course but that is a different subject.
  • Yeah I'm sure that letter was a misprint as the ticket the placed on my car was this year sometime.
I don't have the original ticket, and I think i chucked the letters out as well.

Either way, any advice on what i should do about the phone calls?

Confirm who's calling, say you'll get them, put phone down, turn on radio and leave to simmer for a while. If you really want to speak to them here's some tips on what to say. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/741653
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
