Buying Contract Phones Direct From Networks

anyone with strategies on how to squeeze the best deal out of the networks when buying direct from them? I'm a new customer and not upgrading, so is that boon or bane?

also, how willing are staff in reducing the advertised price of handsets or increasing line-rental discounts or increasing the value of buying back an old phone from me?

any help's greatly appreciated!

If you are not interested in doing a cashback deal I find the best way to get a good deal in the shop is to do some research. Have a look on the internet, local retailer etc ...once you find a deal that you like, tell the person at the shop you go to, that you have seen this deal in this shop and ask them to beat it!If need be you may need to repeat this process at a few shops!
