fair enough but 13% is terrible reading for the Lib Dems compared to the 30% they had not so long ago.

    .

Comparing it to the 30% is absolutely meaningless. That was solely on the back of a talent show contest, of which the winner was decided before the contest.

In the last decade, their rating has averaged out at around 15%.

So it's not half as bad as you are trying to make out here.

Very true. Election idol was a triumph for Nick, but Joe publics interest was never going to last very long.

it's a good point that losing over 60% of the vote in the space of only 3 months should be a worry for the Lib Dems.

    How true. Yet how depressing.

Further evidence that democracy is wasted on the British public, who are becoming increasingly lazy and dumbed down.

    Pathetic.

Those people, influenced by a TV contest were always going to be volitile. If you can influence them by a TV programme, then they can so easily be influenced elsewhere at the drop of a hat. One policy they like by the green party could have them backing up the green party, until labour come on the TV and promote something else they will never do, and they become a labour voter.

They were very useful at the time, when the actual election was going on, but to actually compare todays normal ratings against those ratings is at the least disingenuous.

But they haven't. So it's not a good point.

We always knew that the incoming government would quickly become unpopular as there were no tax giveaways available, no populist measures (possible example, banning tobacco advertising) to be made. We wanted them all to get together and sort out the problems as effectively as possible.

It does seem that the Conservatives have managed to make the best of a nasty situation by pinning the majority of the unpopularity on the Lib Dems and that we (the electorate) seem to have very short memories (don't look too clever now do we?)

It is not a matter of being popular or not it is completely reversing their pre election stance, even their trumpeted personal allowance is merely a shadow. The Tories are having a right old laugh as they dump all the negatives on the LibDems, just look at what happened to one of the LibDem favourites Capital gains taxicon7.gif

Very true, but how far would the coallition have got if the Lib Dems had stuck to their principles on everything? Most marriages take a fair amount of compromise to keep them out of the divorce courts and the first 6 months is probably the period of greatest readjustment! Especially when it's a shotgun wedding!

But they don't appear to be admitting to compromise i.e the VAT issue, Clegg now says increasing VAT is the only way icon7.gif
