Decorating your dorm

Now that everyone has started uni (or about to start soon) I was wondering whether anyone knew of cheap ways to decorate your dorm uniquely other than just film posters.
I'm going for that ethnic Indian feel, I've already got the candle feel going and some fabric-anymore ideas?
I'm sure other people would like to know too so don't limit it to the ethnic feel (but prioritise seen as its my thread!!)

I like to use pictures/adverts out of fashion magazines: it's what my room is like at home so won't feel too out of my normal habitat!
Also bought a really funny Family Guy poster. Yesterday my mum bought me some really nice bed sheets with a fleece which are really comfy (butterflies and pink... probably not to everyone's taste! designed for kids... pfffft)
I think all the lotions and potions, pen and laptop, books and clothes will make it feel a bit homely.
I plan to get there and just throw things around so it doesn't feel cold and sterile!0 -
not so stupid ... there is some student accommodation in this city in the roof of a church where someone lit a candle when they weren't supposed to - whole church nearly went up in flames! Quite scary! :eek:other wrote:stupid fire regulations

I bought loads of sheets of funky wrapping paper and stuck them up with blu-tack. Cheaper than posters.0
