O2 "free sim" data charges

I have just received a "free" O2 sim that I'm planning to use as a spare "backup" sim for my phone.

O2's website does not however make it very clear what the cost of using the sim purely on an ad-hoc payg basis.

I have no interest in buying any "monthly" add-ons as I will hopefully only rarely ever use the sim, such as finding myself in an area with no service on my main sim.

It looks like they charge 20p per minute for normal calls, but it's very unclear what it will cost me to use data. One page seems to imply that it's £3 per MB but I'm sure this cannot be correct as this is what it normally costs for "roamed" data.

  • Hi there

I think you need to get them to change the sim on to their Simplicity tariff. I believe that the limit is then set at £1 per day for internet charges, but you'd be best off phoning them up to check. Call 4445 from your handset (with the O2 sim in), but do remember that they will charge you a flat fee of 25p for the call, regardless of how long you are on the phone to them.
