There'll be a rise in sales of gates, barriers and padlocks. If someone blocks the access then you could call the Police or Council for a tow.

If the ban is introduced I wouldn't be surprised to see parking fines for parking on private land becoming legally enforcable.

Which is how it should be, once you remove the completely unreasonable cases and massive fines.

I doubt any non clamping of cars would result in 'tickets' AKA invoices being enforceable as private parking invoices, not the invoices are in no way shape or form, enforceable.

You can simply ignore there empty threats on Court Action and bad credit.

As a motorist, this feels like a good thing. Why? I never park on private land so it makes no difference to me.

But as someone who has a flat with private parking in the centre of a small city, I wonder what the effect will be? They could park in your space, you could install a bollard to prevent them.

If people were filling or blocking our resident's parking area, what would the legal options be now? very limited

    Any input from Scotland?

I agree private clampers have been ill regulated and their shoddy practices ought to have been curbed. For those who do not park on private land this was not an issue.

Banning private clamping will make life even more difficult for many, e.g. city centre residents with private parking and the small traders in town centres who have a car park for customers.

On balance, I do not welcome the ban.:(
