Private clampers banned - Horray?
The BBC have just reported that private clampers are to be banned.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10993473
As a motorist, this feels like a good thing.
But as someone who has a flat with private parking in the centre of a small city, I wonder what the effect will be?
If people were filling or blocking our resident's parking area, what would the legal options be now?
Any input from Scotland?

If the ban is introduced I wouldn't be surprised to see parking fines for parking on private land becoming legally enforcable.0

they would only become legally enforceable if there was truly an independent appeals process, also none of the current crop of ppc's should be allowed to operate as they are ALL scammers by acting illegally over a protracted time period, trying to pass off invoices as fines and completely lying on their tickets and letters, they don't deserve anything less than liquidation!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -

Apart from sueing them for trespass, not a lot.
Personally, I'd put up a big "This is private property and we are not responsible in any way for any damage to unauthorised vehicles" then key every bloody one of them.0 -

They would probably be enforceable now, as the law stands, if they were not extortionate and did not constitute a penalty. There IS sufficient case law in place. There does not need to be a change so far as ticketing is concerned; all that's needed is for the PPCs and landowners to be a little less greedy.0
