There's always going to be a market for reliable cheap small cars, especially if you market it as being ideal for new drivers. I've bought a couple of £300-£600 cars over the years and the big things for me have been decent amount of tax/MOT (especially MOT, this is a massive selling point for a cheapo car) and whether it's cheap to run. Probably best to try free small ads/Gumtree first but don't rule out Autotrader - sure it costs £9.99 for a fortnight but stuff seems to shift pretty quickly on there due to coverage, ease of use for the buyer and amount of information you can stick on it.

I managed to sell a cinquecento using free ads for £50 with no MOT, no tax and no chance of passing a MOT due to rust - still went really well though. The youngster who bought it was quite happy even after I put it up in the air for him to show him the rust - he was a bit of a DIY car enthusiast with a welder! I do hope he managed to get it back on the road, they are the type of car you can get quite sentimentally attached to. :)
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

This is our description from selling our Ka, buyer arrived quick check over and drove off. Happy seller, happy buyer :) 104,000 miles on it, but it still worked and for someone it'll be a great car.
For sale is our Ford Ka, we've owned this since August 2006 and in that time have added 60,000 miles to it, however, she is now for sale as we're about to take delivery of a new car.
    Good point!
    MOT until May 2011,
    Bad points
High Mileage, over 100,000 but as the Ka only goes to 99,999 you can tell people it's only done 5000 miles!
The rear panel on the passenger side was assaulted by a skin head,
No Service History, although I've carried out oil changes and it's had recent top mounts, rear coil and wishbones. The engine now sounds like every other Ford Ka, it's valve clearances need adjusting but as they've not been done for a fair few miles it'll need to be done by ear rather than feeler guages.
The fast forward and rewind button has falled off the stereo
The carpet in the passenger footwell has been creased and won't stay in the door rubber
The ashtray won't stay up on it's catch
The petrol cap doesn't quite lock in place, however it passed it's mot like this and so is secure
The Ka is suffering from usual Ford rust near the petrol cap and on the pillar at the base of the windscreen on the drivers side
The paint work has numerous marks on it, the most noticeable a 2" scratch on the rear bumper
The car is untaxed, I can supply 6 months tax at cost as it's on the car at the moment otherwise I'll be returning it for a refund.
Wow, that's quite a list, however, it's cheap at a start price of £250, with a good 9 months MOT and is still a good little car :o) Viewing recommended, I can happily collect you from the nearest train station (Leagrave) if required.
    Thanks for looking

On 11-Aug-10 at 11:08:52 BST, seller added the following information:Forgot to mention that the antiroll bar bushes are worn so the arb clunks whilst driving, its been like that for a while and wasn't an issue at the mot. The ka also has a cassette player rather than a cd but does have electric windows.
On 11-Aug-10 at 23:57:45 BST, seller added the following information: Final revision as the Ka is now parked up ready to go to a new home.

The heater control works for hot & cold, the heater control valve was replaced to the version Ford had in 2008 and has no problems since then, however, the speed control only works on 0, 3 & 4.
