Its a bearing - good luck finding an "engineer" who will be able to give a report on it!! As the OP said it has shattered!!! Not sure quite how you can misuse a bearing enough to cause it to shatter, unless they were closing the door at the speed of sound and failing to lubricate the bearing as they were doing it!!!!
Kids trying to climb up said door? Even worse, a grown up attempting to do the same?
Someone falling and reaching for the door putting excessive pressure on it?
As it goes, just because something is "improbable" does not make it impossible. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

At last, someone who sees senseIf it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

It's a sliding wardrobe door!!! How are you supposed to climb up it!!!! People, look at the facts, it really is quite simple, the op purchased doors, the rest seem fine, no other bearings have failed, it does not take a rocket scientist to work out that in all likely hood it is a manufacturing defect - which should be covered by the 10 year guarantee!!! Why do you all seem so intent on making mountains out of mole hills!!!0

Get my point? The "fault" could be due to your reasoning or my reasoning. Both scenarios are equally viable and have the same cause and effect. (faulty product = bearing shatters OR faulty installation = bearing shatters)
Without the facts (i.e. someone inspecting the door) there is no way to PROVE either assumption...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

but using the balance of probabilities it goes my way not yours - if more then one bearing had failed then it would be more your way - but with only one broken and the others intact.......0
