  • Of course it would need to be done anonymously. You're right about the content. If you look at most papers' articles they are aimed at higher income investment and savings issues rather that dealing with the real issues of everyday financial management.

Young people do need educating on basic finance, but this is a difficult nut to crack because they are conditioned by their parents' behaviour and that of the banks. This has lead to a culture of borrowing rather than saving.

    Good luck!

Good.. But would a paper that has many blue chip clients selling these and advertising in the paper agree with my advice that tells them not to ?

Thats very true. But its a common way people get into debt, just not realising where consolidation it leads to. Good luck with it though its a brilliant idea!! Give us the web link when you have published your first article!!

But surely they will be potentially protected from bad debt, which can only be a good thing for them

    Hiya hun,

Who would be protected the paper or the loan co...

The paper - well they would loose the business, The Loan co, yeah they are protected... You know... If you work out how much interest that you have paid say one specific lender, ill bet its more than the debt itself...

True, most papers.. Im a Mirror reader im afraid, hence the Liverpool Echo link... They only offer advice to people who are financially aware, financially lucent and save up.. They dont seem to offer the advice to people who struggle, need help and advice.
  • Good point. Too much slagging off of the loan companies could make the papers nervous. These ads do fill many column inches and generate a lot of revenue for them.

Fantastic Mike, well done you :T May Mr Lewis (sir) have competition in time?!

I was watching the TV the other day and to my horror, it was reported that some (usually younger) home owners thought that a secured loan meant that they were secure and could pay when/how much they wanted if they got into difficulties!! It made me realise that not everyone is aware of financial terms. Maybe an explanation of a term or phrase each column if it doesn't take too many words?

Me thinks you are definitely a do-er and it's great to see you turning round something that is devastating into something positive.

    Hello

Edited as it sounded wrong and negative, didn't mean it to be.

the only advise i can give you as a reader, keep it simple, keep the points to the point no waffling, basic first, if this is going to be read by people of all incomes please include everyone, yes put in homeowner stuff etc etc but also do basic things like budgeting, accounts, insurances and last but not least dont forget us :rotfl:...

    How are you snaggs?

Oh dear! It was a good party though, I've never had so much fun sober hahaha!

I've been feeling very rough over the last couple of days, nothing is working - ginger, peppermint, rice pudding, eating loads, not eating anything - I've tried them all. Sleeping it off helps but my bosses are not so keen on me doing that at my desk all day..... I've been waking up every morning feeling like I've got the hangover from hell, sooooo unfair! But it will be worth it in the end I'm sure.

I'm very impressed with your post from Martin, it was nice of him to pop by with some advice. Good luck!
