Congratulations on the birth of Joseph BB. Labour vibes to all who need them! My best mate is due today, but no sign at all of movement. Bless her, she is fed up. I remember feeling like this and DS was 1 week early!
Feeling a bit fed up tonight, I am worried I am becoming familiar with an old acquaintance that I hoped I would never encounter again. I had acute spd in my first pregnancy from very early on, which resulted in me being confined to a wheelchair for 3 and a half months. I had been told after the birth by various health professionals that I was high risk to suffer again with it and they also said that I may start to experience symptoms by week 8 and the condition was likely to be worse. This is why we waited to try for a second baby, so that my DS would be old enough to dress himself etc.
I ensured that I was as fit as I could be before we started trying. I started running again once I could tolerate it and built up to 20 miles per week for around a year. I lost 2 stone and carried on with strengthening exercises which were advised by the physio. I checked with the doc and we started trying. Six months later, bingo! So, after preparing my body as much as I could, I was delighted when 8 weeks came and went without any significant pain and up until now I have felt only slight niggles (18 weeks tomorrow).
At the weekend, I went for a walk with my DS (about 3 miles) and felt slight pain in my pubic bone afterwards. This was a familiar feeling to me and it started to ring a few silent alarm bells, but I wasn't overly concerned. Yesterday, however, the pain remained and I found myself beginning to limp with it. I was doing some housework in the kitchen when I bent down suddely and my lower back and bum totally pulled. I screamed with the pain and startled the cat! It was excrutiating to try to stand back up straight and since then I have had very severe pain all around my pubic bone, pelvis area, lower back, bum and even on my legs.
I had a terrible night's sleep with the pain. I managed to drive to take DS to school this morning and hobbled in to take him. Got back home and all I could do was sit on sofa until my DH picked up DS and found me in a mess! I have taken paracetamol, so that I could empty the dishwasher, but it didn't touch the sides. That is all I have managed to do today, thank God I wasn't at work today!
I have the modwife coming round tomorrow and I am terrified that she is going to suggest I have SPD again. I have half convinced myself that these pains are totally unrelated, but I am not sure if I should be putting practical plans in place incase things get worse quickly (which is what happened last time). So, so sorry about this long rant, I didn't mean for it to be!0 -
Oh forgot to add I picked up my Bounty mum-to-be pack today from Sainsbury's and I was quite impressed
We don't get the packs from the hospital here, so this is the only one I'll get - though the website.

(((Hugs))) Dipsy - how awful
I'm afraid I have no experience of SPD, but you have my sympathies. I would say the best thing is to see your MW or GP asap to get a proper diagnosis. I hope it isn't SPD for your sake, but I'm sure you would rather know one way or the other.0 -
((hugs)) Dipsy, there are a few women on here with SPD of varying degrees... I got it with DD1 and was very relieved to not get it with DD2 (she was all in my back, nothing at the front) and I've gotten to 24wks now and am just starting to feel the familiar twinges in my pelvis...
It might just be that your body is telling you to slow down and rest a bit... But if it's not, you've done an awful lot to prepare yourself, and with your past history you're very likely to get quick referrals and help with what you need

Hi Ladies,
Just a quick post to say hello, I haven't read back, I can see there's been arrivals so congrats to you all, welcome to the newbies.
I cant tell you in too much detail what my week has been like as its just been a steady stream of people, cards, phone calls, messages, tears, moments of utter disbelief, loneliness and the how hell will I get through this for me, my ds and my unborn baby, because it is too painful for me, and I dont want to fetch the thread down.
I haven't had time to think to much about my pregnancy and the baby, but today it has been on the go it seems the whole time and it feels like babys fingers are stuck under my hip, its really uncomfortable. Hoping when I lay down in bed it will move.
Hope all are ok.
Will come back soon, to say hello.

Sorry to be ignorant, can I just ask what the colours/names thing is all about? I'm intrigued
Hi Cutterby. I have something called synaesthesia. It's when you experience something with one sense, and it also gives you another sense. In my case, when I hear words, I experience colours. It's not that I see the colours, I just know that Anna is green and Sarah is yellow. For other people, they may actually see the colours, or taste things when they hear sounds. I also get it with pain, so AF pains are newspaper, tiredness headaches are fizzy blue, and the stomach ache I get before being sick is black and hard.
The colours things makes chosing babies names even harder for me, as there are some colours and combinations of colours that I don't like.
I hope that's a little bit less weird than it first appeared on the threadIf having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
It's nice to see you twoflower. None of us can begin to imagine how things are for you at the moment, but we're all here for you, you're not bringing the thread down at all.A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Hi Twoflower.
Thoughts have been with you this week. Please feel free to write about whatever you are feeling. This is your space to be honest and we are here to 'listen'.0 -
Dipsy - ((hugs)) I had SPD with DD to the point of being offered crutches but due to having pg related carpal tunnel aswell I wasnt able to use them. This time round I have suffered from SPDsince 8 weeks and just switched down gears dramatically. I am now only doing essential movements and have been signed off work. Its extremly frustrating as I had lost 3st5lbs and just started jogging before I got pregnant. But I know how much pain I experienced last time which is my incentive for minimal movement now. My only consolation is that in 18 weeks baby will arrive and my pain will go away shortly after.
Oh and congrats to BBPics please
