I'm not letting the midwife anywhere near me with her Ikea tape... She couldn't measure me properly last time and claimed I'd grown 6cm in 2 weeks... And the same again 2 weeks later... She had the bottom of the tape at me effing knee so no wonder it was measuring big! (that and I have a bug fat belly anyway) After she'd sent me to the consultant and I told them I didn't want another scan they were happy to just let me carry on as I was... And I told her to put her tape away the next time she got it out... She's not even getting a chance this time... It's inaccurate at the best of times, but with a belly like mine it's always going to be off...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Went for my glucose testing today, should hear back tomorrow if there is any problem (fingers crossed all will be fine)
Stayed at my folks last night, and woke up at about 2am worrying about bubs and the fact that at 28 weks I'm still not feeling him move/kick much. Couldn't get back to sleep for worrying.
So decided that as I was at the hospital today anyway I'd see if one of the MW's would have a quick listen for me.
They did, and it all sounded fine (about 144 bpm), but she then said if I didnt mind waiting a bit longer she'd put me on a monitor and do a proper trace of babies h/beat/movements.
I did wait (had been there for hours already so thought another 1 wouldn't matter!), and had a half hour monitoring session.
She put some bands around my stomach to restrict babies space, and then gave me a button to push each time I felt baby move (which I didn't), but my mum and me could hear movements and the MW seemed happy, so my mind was at at rest (again!)
She said that if by the time I get to 30 weeks I'm still not feeling much, to come back again and they'll monitor me again.
So it seems baby is moving, but I just can't feel much! My placenta must be a whopper!
Hope everyone is ok today..will have a read back now to catch up xMetranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hi there,
I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and after seeing my midwife today I have been told bubs is head down and engaged and now it's just a waiting game. However, she did advise that I should go home and try sex as this could bring on labour and of all the 'housewife tales' she has heard this is the one she would highly recommend.
Now before I tell hubby who would be delighted with this news I thought I would ask you good folk if this does actually work or not and what your opinions are.

MV I'm really pleased that hopefully your mind is little more at ease tonight, and that they took the time to monitor you xxxxx
** RADICAL POST ALERT **
As Queen of brining a downer on the thread, I am going to shock you all by announcing that I have just realised I am having an actual baby (I know, at 37+3 :rotfl: :rotfl: ) and that it will be indescribably hard to do this by myself, but I am so looking forward to this.
As a large lady, I do not do full length mirrors, but DD has one, and just went to check on her and caught a glimpse. For the first time in many years (?ever) I am happy with my body and bump, it is doing something amazing, and I am really really going to miss being pregnant.
!!!!. That probably means I will have him soon now I am so accepting! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think it is something to do with the hormones your body releases when excited....so the more exciting the better!0

It's possible. You may release oxytocin which is the hormone that starts off contractions. Also there's something in sperm that softens the cervix and that can start labour off as well.
Good luck working out the logisticsHere I go again on my own....0 -
