weak signal on iphone

Hi i have a very weak signal on my iphone 3g in the same room my daughters 2g iphone has a full signal just wondering if anyone knows why and what if anything can be done i am on 02 payg when downloading things they take forever look forward to your replies thanks in advance

    Is your daughter O2 PAYG as well as you?

    Is your daughters network the same as yours or different? It might be a bad signal area for O2, I know at my sisters home my O2 signal gets cut off sometimes but my sisters vodaphone signal is quite strong there.

  • Ironically, the whole issue with the signal strength indicators being inaccurate actually started with the 2g. Reception was so poor - allegedly - that Apple "tweaked" the calculation on the 2g to make it look better than it actually was. That part of the OS stayed the same through the release of the 3g and 3gs as Apple (according to some blogs) "forgot" to correct the calculation and iPhones continued to show better reception than they were actually getting. This was finally corrected with the release of either iOS4 or 4.0.1 (I forget which).
