adsl4less free upgrade

I recently considered moving to the Talk Talk business package for broadband and pre-paid daytime local and national calls, but decided against this as it is not a very competitive package. (I work from home and use the call signal for a second number - this feature is not offered to Talk Talk residential customers)
I asked adsl4less for my MAC and they asked what they needed to do to retain my business. I explained and was offered a 2mb unmetered broadband package at my current price of £14.99 per month for the basic 512kb unmetered service(but with £14.99 ungrade fee)
I decided to accept the offer but unfortunately I live too far away from the exchange. Has anyone successful upgraded with adsl4less in these circumstances?

if you live too far from the exchange, then you won't be able to get 2mb... maybe on adslmax, but it depends on the length of your phone line....
right - go here - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php enter in your phone number and postcode.... on the summary page, click on BT adsl, and you should get results to your local exchange
you will probably find that you can only receive 512kb or maybe 1mb
if you then click on locality - see how far away you are from the exchange - typcally if you are further than 2/3km away (as the crow flies) then you probably will not be able to get 2mb at all
... instead, try haggling them to lower your 512k price to something like £11.99, or even upgrading to 1mb if possible for the same price that your currently paying
... but if you are too far from the exchange, then it will be unlikely that you will get a speed increase - this will be true from any adsl (broadband) provider, since they all use the good old BT network. As I mentioned before though, if you can get adslmax on your exchange, then you may be able to get a faster speed - this is shown on those results pages, that are mentioned above.0 -

Thanks for the link to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php
It gave the following information and confirms that 512kb is the best I can expect
You are approximately 3.47km from the exchange (straight line distance).
There appears to a compatibility issue with your phone line. This could be caused by an existing DSL connection, ISDN, a DACS unit, TPON, a pending ADSL order or many other common issues. This will need to be resolved before ADSL can be supplied to your line.0 -

This is basically saying you already have broadband on your line
Try and see if you can haggle a lower price instead0
