I think the right way to get rich is working hard ...0

I think mostly working for someone else is actually not the way to go.
I believe setting up my own business and investing within the property market is where I see myself heading, I am going to unviersity at York and then living with the parents/ buying a really cheap flat and flood all my money and time into paying this mortgage off and then set up my business part time (during holidays and weekends etc.) whilst investing my money into new properties which produce me a positive cashflow with the fact that if everything goes kaput then I will be satisfied with at least trying and simply the worst case scenario is I declare bankrupt and go back to having to live with my mother. But I believe I will be hell of a lot happier with myself.

I don't see working for someone else 'generally' as the way to getting rich in all honesty.0

"and I want a job whilst I am there, I would like a professional part-time one which I know is rare but I would love to train to be a an accountant part time along them lines, or just get a very high paying job with good points on business experience."
Part time won't work. Accountancy firms want you there working on a full time basis while you train and study.
Getting work experience through a penultimate year internship while at university is almost compulsory these days. Most graduate recruiters take on students in the vacation between second and final year and from those they will fast track the people who show most promise onto their graduate recruitment schemes. Apply right at the start of second year at university.

Depends on the degree.
I agree that many of them have been devalued such as media studies and the David Beckham course but the "great professional" medical, engineering and teaching degrees are still as valuable and in demand as they have always been.
The media student in comparison would be next to useless and would only be interested in gaining an audience for him or herself.
.
media studies is not a bad degree to do, if thats what you want to do as a career. i graduated in media and communication, i learnt a hell of a lot, built up great skills and after building up my portfolio and i am now a full time video editor and do some of the video shoots also.
yes i could have spent the money i spent on the degree in buying my own equipment and going on courses (the first of which i did after i graduated) but i wouldn't have had a clue where to start or most likely had the motivation to keep afloat in a competitive industry.
several of my course mates have now got jobs in their chosen field. of course some of them haven't, but that goes for lots of graduates no matter what degree you do.
but with a media degree you learn how to communicate very well in writing and speaking and learn how to express yourself as an individual and to work well in a team.....0 -
