In the Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk, remove the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so:

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Click the General tab. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings. Click View Objects.
   
   The list of program files that are downloaded to the SystemRoot\Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk appears in the Downloaded Program Files window.
2. In the Status column, note the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. Remove these files. To do so, right-click the file, and then click Remove.

thanks for this DVsShadow, sorry my laptop is giving me grief by now; I'm not able to remove this unknown file because when I right click I find only properties and not the remove feature:

Well, I don't do windows, so not tried and tested. Drag the files to the Wastebin. Or create a new folder, copy everything else to it, delete the old folder rename the new to the old. Or try again logged on as admin.
