Delayed Text Messages on Orange?

Hi all,

I'm new to these boards (a previour reader, never writer), and am looking for a little advice.

I have been a customer of Orange for about 12 years now, 10 of which being on PAYG.
18months ago I was sick of paying out a fortune to upgrade my phone and to get unlimited texts so I finally gave in and started a contract.

I was given a Samsung Tocco which worked perfectly. I only needed it for calls and texts so my contract was perfect (200mins, unlimited texts, free phone, £25/month).
Whilst I had this phone I started to notice delays in receiving texts and would often get a 'missed call reminder' despite my phone not ringing but having a perfect signal.
Orange told me a 3G mast was to blame and instructed me to change my phone to 2G which solved the problem instantly.

Now, I have upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Apollo and I have problems.
Sometimes I receive texts fine but the majority take anything from 45mins to 8 hours to arrive!!
I can browse the web totally fine, not had a single problem and I always have a full signal.
So why are virtually all of my texts delayed?

Does anyone have any answers?
Orange haven't exactly been that helpful over this and it's begining to frustrate me now!
I have already checked my local coverage which is all spot on. I even checked other areas (work etc) and they're fine too.

Is it worth another complaint to orange?
Hopefully someone can offer me some advice :D

Why not switch the handset to 2g like you did last time? Not an ideal solution I suppose but if it works it works

I have a very similar problem with my samsung pixon on orange. I constantly get 'missed call' messages even though my phone is on, I have full signal and my mum is waiting just around the corner!
Don't really have the problem with delayed messages a lot of messages I receive are 'broken'.

If there is any advice on offer I would also be really greatful.
(Sorry I can't offer any advice to the OP)
