I have now calmed down, excuse me for being high strung. I was just as excited as my daughter so it was quite a fall down.

Anyway, a "special pop up tent bed" went own like a ton of bricks cos she wanted her bed. So she's now on pillows on the floor in that. Took an hour to get her there too with all the messing about.

Now to refil the glass and get ice-cream

how did she get on? I'm guessing the little one is on mattress on the floor by now and waaaaayyyy in the land of nod. Ikea are brilliant when it comes to changing/replacing bits. My DS new bunk bed was 3/4 made when we discoverd a single screw missing....the central single screw...which meant he would not be sleeping in his brand new bunk bed that night either. phoned the store and they ordered a new one...said it would take 10 days so to "pop" (my favourite phrase...sounds soooo easy) into store and they would see what they could find. eventually after about an hour came up with an identical screw...different part number but identical screw...and 10 days later we still received half a dozen of the damn things in the post!!

Thank you morty. Yes she is. It actually took till I was in the pop up tent with her trying to get her to sleep in there for my to actually relax and then the answer came to me, pillows on the floor "in" her new bed. Didnt work great, she was still crying but thats where she is now so a, happy LOL.

Actually, thank you for the word "pop". Thats what Dwell at Lakeside, London said to me after getting home (sheffield so a good 200 miles away) and finding the plastic part that holds the lamp shade in place missing. That was 2 weeks ago! Guess am calling 2 stores tomorrow!

Ikea are great when it comes to replacing something. When we moved house a couple of months ago we decided to make the spare room into a chill out room and just put a sofa bed in there in case anyone came to stay with us. One of my friends was coming over to go out and was going to stay the night so off we went to Ikea to get a sofa bed we'd seen to sort the room out. Not quite sure what was going on with my head whilst I was there but when we got home and unpacked the sofa bed it turned out we'd just bought a 2 seater sofa that looked identical to the sofa bed. We'd also bought a cover for the sofa bed that didn't fit the sofa we'd arrived home with so I phoned the store on the off chance to see if there was anything we could do as we'd unpacked everything and they told us that we could take it back if we wanted and swap it for the sofa bed we wanted in the first place. When we got it back they just said that they would either put it together and use it as a display or knock a bit of money off it and stick it in the clearance section.

I was very impressed with the service as i'd just expected them to say as it was unpacked there's not much they could do and I should have checked the details when I picked it.

Hope you managed to get your daughters bed slats sorted without to much of a problem.

Customers of IKEA are not expected to put together or actually use the products they buy. They are merely intended for trendy style statements and showing off at middle class dinner parties.

This explains why as well as being naff quality, they are not very practical.

Don't know where I saw/heard it, but I am sure Ikea will refund your petrol costs if you have to return. Probably too late now anyway.

If I am wrong then I await the flames.....:p

Doubt there will be any other than a Tesco express on a Sunday night. Never seen anything like an airbed there.

OP, couldn't she sleep in whatever she used last night? I realise she isn't happy, I understand that especially if she is moving from a cot, but I can't see what can be done.

I would ring them in the morning and see what they offer.

Good point, don't think there are many (if any) in England that are totally 24 hours - I'm up in Scotland, so its big tesco 24/7 apart from xmas!

Lets hope the slats are meant to go across, not along the frame...:rotfl:
