Comparing Running Costs of Remoska/Pressure Cooker/Slow Cooker

Can I throw something else into the ring ? I couldn't decide whether or not to splash out and buy a Remoska when I came across http://www.jacksonscamping.com/?pc=/product/3483
I found it on a camping site originally and it is 650 watts. Obviously it is small but I find I can easily do things like sausage & oven chips for the children and a chop for me and with the right ceramic dishes I can do crumbles, pies etc and obviously jacket spud. It is a lot less than a Remoska and I use it in conjunction with my slow cooker. I cook a chicken in the slow cooker and then do the roast pots in the little oven. DH cooks frozen pizza in it (needs to trim a tiny bit off the crust). It has variable heat settings so is pretty versatile.
It might be useful for those of you who can't/don't want to stretch to a Remoska. We certainly have noticed a drop in electricity consumption since I bought it and the big oven is rarely on.0 -

I have something similar - the Cookworks Signature mini oven - and I agree with Amarillo. Very useful and a good alternative to using the main oven.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
The cookworks mini signature oven looks great, and is larger than the JML, but similarly priced.
I'm in no hurry, so will wait until theres a price reduction (hopefully!). Thanks for the info. :T0 -
I've heard (and read) good things about all these as tools to save time and money, and also to help get dinner on the table without too much stress. Which one is the best? I cook for 2 adults and 3 children daily, but it won't be so long until I'm cooking 5 adult portions, I guess. I do try to cook extra for the freezer when I can. ( I have learned the hard way that not everything freezes...:o)

i have all three, took me a while but i had the pressure cooker first, i`ve had one for years and use it for soups and stews and sometimes meat, the slow cooker came next and i also use it for soups and chillies, curries and meat, i love the way that the cheaper cuts of meat turn out as if i`ve paid for the most expensivemeat goes a lot further too. The base doubles up a s a nice heavy bottomed pan for jam making.
The remoska i`ve had for about 18 months or maybe a little longer, i got the standard size as there are only 2 of us and i use it for bread rolls, cakes (great for cakes) chops, burgers etc i made a lasagne in it yesterday. Anything that would normally go in the oven ends up in there as long as it will fit.
I think that each item has it`s own uses and as i like to batch cook for the freezer i have the huge 6.5 litre slow cooker. This is very handy as dh and i both work shifts and often eat at different times, i can eat later and just turn the sc off afterwards and freeze the rest.
It would be very difficult to choose between all three really, if someone were to tell me that i could only keep one of them i would be lost and really don`t know which one i would choose, all 3 are great.

I have all three and I use the remoska way way more than the others because it is so versatile and the food tastes really good but I don`t work. I would say that for your family, this should be second on the list
If you can only get one and you are working then the slow cooker is best. If you get the remoska then you will need the grande for a bigger family but you can put a dish in there so you can cook more than one thing at a time
The very first item I got was the pressure cooker and I have since had another one and it is very cost saving and quick. If you are happy to get the meal together just before you eat, then the pc is best and the food tastes nicer than from the sc and it is also more versatile
Well I have decided: If I were starting again with children in the house then I would definitely get the pressure cooker. The one I can easily do without is the sc
at my stage in life ie retired, the one I would hang onto for dear life would be the remoska. OP write down a list of pros and cons0 -

Thank you. Sounds like maybe I need to work towards all three eventually! I do make jam, and like to batch cook, so the slow cooker has seemed attractive, but I suspect I would use both the other two as well. I use my oven quite a bit, and whilst I'd still need this for some of the baking (muffins, cup cakes and big fruit cakes) I think most of the rest of what I do would go in the Remoska.

Can't speak for Remoskas, but I love both my Pressure Cooker and Slow Cooker - wouldn't be without either of them. Been using pressure cookers for about 40+ yrs - they can be just as good as slow cookers for tenderising cheaper cuts of meat as long as you read the instructions about cooling them down properly.0

I have all three and by far the pressure cooker is used most often - stew, soups, casseroles, curries, rice, veg, pulses etc. I like my slow cooker but guess I should make more effort trying recipes with it - at the moment I mostly make huge batches of beef bolognese for freezing. I have been hugely disappointed with my Remoska, having spent hours reading about it on this site I bought one last year, I have the grande and maybe it is faulty as it takes ages to cook anything in it. I haven`t used it at all since last Christmas and I really should ask Lakeland if I can return it...which is a huge shame as I really wanted to love it. I bought a Nu Wave halogen oven and this cooks really quickly which is just what I need when I get home after work with my hungry 8 year old.
I think a lot depends on what meals you like to cook and whether you are about to add ingredients or generally faff about with stuff.0
