I have the Haynes manual but it doesn't have anything about the symbols and signs in it.
thats what the handbook of the car is for
every car is different so theres little they could tell you on an instructional course

IIRC your symbol relates to the sport setting on the slush box0 -

The manual is not for my actual car. It is just for the Cavalier from particular years but it's not for the automatic.
they dont make specific manual/auto handbooks
they cover all models
so if you look there will be a section on the dash lights
if you are referring to the haynes then this is not an owners manual

Thank you. I'm hoping the manual i've just bought from that ebay link has all that in
I'll still do that test for Harvey later though so he can help me to sort it out. 0 -
Strider, can you tell me where on the Web you got the link for the dashboard illustration?0

The "S" which as stated is for the Sports mode is also a Fault light for the Trans..... Had it years ago on a 91 2.0Gli Cav I had... It drove great so I left it.
You can read the codes on these without plugging it in to a computer easily enough as you can most Vauxhalls.
My money goes on it will probably flash a code38... No Trans Input RPM.
2 sensors on the side of the gearbox.. One is the Fluid Temp and the other is the RPM sensor. They both look the same and I can't recall which is which as you look at it.0
