Hi,
Im in the middle of looking into joining up with sky again after being a member previous years ago. We have already got the Sky dish installed and the (very) old box.
Im only interested in having the basic entertainment package and music for my teenage daughter. When i phoned up a very rude salesman offered just what was on their website of £18 + £1 for the music. I tried to say i knew friends who had gotten better deals, but he was very blunt in saying that this was false, (when in actual fact was very true)!
Just wondering if anyone could give me any tips for when i phone up again later and hopefully get a less arrogant sales person on the phone, because frankly with freeview atm it just doesnt seem that appealing at that price....
Thanks

Hi bubbles, I'm in the same position as you but without the child. Well, actually, I've very recently signed up (online) for their basic package. This was on Friday.
I was offered free installation and free Sky+ HD box (I have a HD-ready TV). The package will cost me £18 per month (I think increasing to £19 per month from September) and I had to pay £10 upfront for the first month's HD subscription, but I was assured I could cancel that during the month. I'm guessing they are counting on me either being impressed with HD-TV or forgetting to cancel - no chance. Budget is set at basic package cost only.
Apparently after 45 days or so you also get M&S vouchers worth £50. Edit: Just had a look at the Sky website and I think if I want to get the £50 vouchers I'd have to keep the HD subscription. If I cancel, I'll get £25 instead. So, for an extra £25 I'd have to pay 11 x £10. Methinks not
I'd try again and see what happens.The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
Poorbabe if you go through the Captain Cash website (News of the World) if you sign up before midnight 19 August you get £80 cashback plus the £50 M&S voucher with that same deal.0

Hi Kimberley, thanks for the tip but surely it's too late for me? I've already ordered the package online. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420

I told Sky about a year ago that I was cancelling and moving to Freeview instead.....as all I had anyway was the basic £18.50 package. I got offered a deal whereby I got that basic package for just £7 a month for 3 months.....then went back to the normal rate.0 -
