Vodafone Contract Downgrade options for iphone 4

Hello,
I read somewhere that part way through my contract I can downgrade to lower tiers by £5 increments a month.
But I would like to know how the minutes and texts are affected.
I am thinking of joining Vodafone for iphone 4 contract that offers 600 min and unlimited text for £40 a month for 18m.
Downgrading half way through seems like a good deal... and I am wondering if i should choose a £35 a month that offers 300 min and unlimited text.. or the 600 min.. if downgrading is done proportionally.. then 600 min deal might give me more leeway to reduce the monthly cost and still keep enough minutes.
Please help !
Thanks.

You wont be able to downgrade on an iphone tariff or any of the newer tariffs, you will have taken out a contract and agreed to pay an agreed amount for the duration of your commitment.0

Downgrading is hit and miss to if an operator allows it anymore. I know some don't and some only let you do it on the last month.
It was abused by people to get a free phone then downgrade, so the operators had no choice but to limit or stop downgrading.
If you want to go this way, get written proof from vodafone before ordering that you can downgrade. Otherwise you will be stuck with paying it all in full.
Do note if you ever do downgrade you cannot cancel at that price, the disconnection charge will be the originally monthly charge * length remainingAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

No downgrades on Voda yourplan offerings - make sure you like what you are signing up to, as you're stuck with it!0

Don't even start thinking of downgrading on Vodafone contract. I was in a similar situation and O2 was the only operator who's allowing downgrades on iPhone contracts, but again due to O2 changing their data plans for iPhone I went with Tesco and quite happy with their service.:j0
