Comments
-
my son has just been clamped for parking in a thatched area in meadowhall £90 to unclamp he was only gone 2 mins sign not visable can any one help whats a thatched area and is there any chance of an appeal thank you
Can't see how this is relevant to a ECP thread (who don't even clamp!) from 2010.
I am not sure how you are even going to find this reply again as you didn't start a new thread on the current form and just randomly headed it up 'ray' (very random, new threads have relevant headings which explain the company and/or problem).
Why did you not just read the current forum (see my signature, you are just ONE click away from the current 2012 threads, it's easy even for forum newbies, just one click and you see the current threads on any forum you find). Click and see other threads, look for clamping threads for info.
ANYWAY, I WOULD START YOUR OWN NEW TOPIC ON PEPIPOO FOR HELP (PLEASE DON'T JUST ADD A REPLY TO AN ANCIENT THREAD OVER THERE):

You mean a hatched area of yellow crossed lines meaning no parking. He would have to sue to get his money back. Lack of sign could be relevant but surely he saw the yellow hatched lines and couldn't mistake them for a bay?
He may have to chalk it down to experience as he paid for clamp remeoval and £90 is less extortionate than most.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Next time:
1. Hire or borrow an angle grinder
2. Make sure there's no one from the company about (everyone else will stand and cheer)
3. Cut the dam thing off
4. Exit stage left.
Worked for me never heard any more about it, with the pending illegality of clamping the cops will pretty certainly trot out their favourite mantra, "it's a civil matter."
You can probably sue if the signing is non-existent or inadequate.0
