Cheapest handset for Voda roaming

I am going on a holiday to Iceland in a couple of weeks and as part of the deal have been given a local Vodafone sim to make calls cheaper when there. The problem is all the phones I can use are locked to either O2 or Orange so I am guessing I need to get a cheap Voda handset before I go. Firstly am I right in thinking that a UK voda handset will work with another country's Voda sim and secondly what is the cheapest I can get

Dont get a Vodafone branded handset, if its a cheap PAYG phone, it most likely locked to Vodafone UK and you would be unable to use a Vodafone Iceland SIM.

There are online sites where you are able to purchase an unlocked phone. Carphone Warehouse sell phones which are unlocked, take a browse of their website.

I recently bought two of these, you have to have buy £5 T-Mobile top-up as well, but both were unlocked. They were on Hotdeals at the time (two for £15 including the two to-ups then) and others whom purchased confirmed theirs were unlocked too.

Note they are currently out of stock but might be worth your while checking regularly as they do tend to sell out fast.
