No on-demand footie on BT!

I briefly mentioned this in a BT phone thread, but thought I'd ask here!
I have just found out that Vision have NO on-demand premiership football anymore! This was the main reason I signed up for BT (from Sky as I could no longer afford them - for the same reason, I cannot afford sky sports through BT).
I spoke to their customer options team, and they said I still had to stick with my contract, and I could just choose another package instead of the sports (obviously I want no other package).
Can they do this, or am I within my rights to cancel with no charge?

If the change is to our detriment, you don't have to stick with the contract.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i was hoping someone would say that, as i really want away from BT. because of the october line rental increase i can get out of phone contract. because of this i may be able to get out of vision, so i just need something for broadband lol (although i don't mind this for a few months until sky do their unlimited package in our area)
thanks

But they havnt changed there contract, just the programming they offer. I'm sure if you checked the contract it would not specifically mention you would be supplied with on demand premiership.0

Now I'm not saying you're wrong (because I don't know), but if you're correct, surely they could get rid of 90% of all the ondemand programmes and I'd have to stay with them?
In this case, they've replaced the football with 2 extra pay-channels (sky sports 1 and 2), so my service has drastically changed, non? They didn't even inform me!
In any case, I have ordered Sky now, and will (very) happily see BT in court for the 2 remaining months! I'm writing them a letter this evening.0 -
As with all contracts the wording is crucial. If it specifically says they will supply on demand football then you would have an argument for breach of contract. If as i suspect it says they will supply an on demand service with no specific mention of the content (likely as they knew at a point they would have to rebid for the rights and could lose) then there is no breach of contract.
Its just the same as no sky contract promises premiership football. It could be outbid at the next round of negotiations and nobody in a 12month contract would have a leg to stand on.
Bottom line is if they are still supplying what the terms of the contract bind them to then there is no breach of contract and no reason to cancel.0
