I live in the SE, what is your budget and where do you need to commute to? There are lots of really cheap places as long as you are a brave soul

thanks for the reply> my budget is roughly £400 pcm for a one bedroom flat (not sharing)0

When you mean SE do you mean SE London or SE of the Country?
If you mean SE of the country the Medway towns are cheap, you get good value for the money and London is within 45mins of commute, can you please clarify?0 -

Try Gillingham (Rainham), Chatham, Rochester for rail links into London (victoria and the high speed links). For instance this

£400 even in the Medway towns is rather low to be honest for a 1 bed. You might get a decent studio for that but probably not a 1 bed place - although it is possible for a 1 bedroom place it won't be great. A studio or 1 bed place will be A or B tax band so rather low but something to think about as well - you will be able to get 1 person discount if it is just for you mind. Most places around £400pcm are going to be shared places so not what you are after. You aren't going to have a lot of choice to be honest.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

SE is a biiiiiiig area. Try somewhere like Hastings or Bognor if you want cheap.
In fact, just seen this on RM: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-26867935.html (£60 pcm tee hee!)0 -
Only Rochester is worth living in out of those.Try Gillingham (Rainham), Chatham, Rochester for rail links into London (victoria and the high speed links). For instance this

Medway is cheap for a reason, but is not as bad as some make out.
Same with Gravesend and Dartford.Been away for a while.0 -

Rochester has bad areas just like the rest of Medway!
I live in Rainham and its very nice, although I wouldn't want to live in certain roads myself.0
