I don't blame the sister for not going. I really wanted them not to get married, he was such an idiot, making choices that didn't even leave space for compromise.
Also surely after flights a wedding the next day would mean you were totally knackered! not the kind of wedding I'd enjoy.
Could say loads more, but not in polite company! Just spend the last hour shouting at the laptop (iplayer)!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
the only bit of sense i saw in that episode was the brother saying

Jaw-dropping stuff!!
I know that these programmes are all about the editing, and it's possible that the groom wasn't a self-centred, thoughtless, idiot who either knew nothing about his beloved's hopes, dreams and wishes, or cared nothing about them.
Yet, without the benefit of editing, he managed to arrange a wedding which left out most of his family-loving bride's family, cut the guest list down to six (rather than the bride's dream figure of 150-ish), without even having the saving grace of being 'budget', and was held in a venue which was clearly his idea of heaven.
Once again I find myself going against the flow here. I agree with the sister's choice not to go to the wedding. There were enough witnesses to/supporters of the farce - my view, obviously.
The bride's mum (who went, supportively, as mums do, but who couldn't quite get her face to go along with lie that 'it's all turned out OK' - bless her). Her stepdad (who deserves a medal, IMO, for his heroic efforts at calming troubled waters). The groom's parents (how I sympathised with them!). And the best man who - possibly benefiting from the editing - came across better than the groom.
I certainly didn't get the impression that the bride went to Vegas wanting to get married, or that she got married 'wanting to get married'.
(Of course, I'm the type of person who gets uncomfortable about 'public' proposals, as I feel that they make it even more difficult to say 'no' - even if you want to! Hugely romantic if you are in love and ready to marry :j. But a lot of pressure if you're not ready to marry - even if you're in love. If you're not in love... Just change your name to "I'm the bad one"!)
The bride may (or may not) have accepted that her brother was being excluded from the wedding. No one else is obliged to accept that. Especially when the bride really wanted him to be there, but as forced to exclude him due to [ahem!] 'circumstances'.
It must be a horrific situation to be in - having to choose between your siblings. I'd have made the same choice as the sister in the programme. One of the siblings had mum and stepdad. The other would have had no-one if the sister had also gone to the wedding. I'd have stayed too, under those circumstances. Even if I didn't think the wedding was a farce, by that stage...0 -
Arrgh!
I really disliked this weeks programme, all I could think of was is he out there for 5 days sorting out the wedding using up the budget?
I also wonder whether the hen and stag nights (events nowadays) come out of the wedding budget too.
and frankly I would have been livid if my brother wasn't attending ( and the same with his sister)
