Morning all, still stuck indoors here :( Looks like we'll be living off store cupboard meals for another day. Can't get to dad's (85) to do his pill dispenser so I'm trying to get hold of one of his neighbours to see if she will help me out. I hate this weather!

  • Morning all, hope you are all well and warm where you are.

Had a WEM yesterday to say I had won another book from the good reads website, Which I am rather pleased about as I really enjoyed the last one I won from there. I like their website too, as I can keep track of the books I have read and what I thought of them.

In boiler news: It got fixed temporarily last night, :j only to break down again this morning :(. So it has now been a week without proper hot water and heating, but another part is on order now, that should hopefully fix it for good (Although I'm not holding my breath!)
What makes me mad is that we pay £16 a month for "peace of mind" "24 hour a day emergency line" etc. boiler breakdown cover. But if we had just got our corgi registered friend to fix it in the first place, we would have been without heat for just 1 day  ...Rant over...:D

barnabysue - Not much fun is it this weather? Just looked in the freezer for tea, there is loads in there, but not much to make a meal out of (Got loads of vegetables, fruit for jams, ice cream etc. Not sure what kind of meal I could make with that!)

Exactly, Hubby is always moaning that the freezer is jam packed, but I really can't find anything that would constitute a 'meal'. If he wasn't so flippin' picky it would be easier!

    Morning,

Beautiful , clear blue sky, very crisp day today after more very heavy snow last night.

Snowed in in the village still! Schools still closed, they tried to open on Weds and 50 out of 2000 kids turned up!

It's really impractical,(esp hoping you manage to sort the pills out and the boiler you guys ) but it really is incredibly beautiful and reminds you of the luck, fragility and wonder of our planet and its ecosystems.

Got a huge pot of Beef stew slowcooking in the oven if anyone wants some, going to finish off the advents and go to the pub......:D

I'm going out...I may be some time. :D

    Hi everyone,
It has been much busier in here since all this snow came. It is trying to snow here - we have only had about an inch of snow since this started but gosh its cold! Hope your boiler gets fixed soon Molly. We pay £13 to British Gas and they came really quickly but terrified it goes off again - keep feeling the radiators!
My video camera that I won from the Intercontinental Hotel's Priority Club Comp arrived today - all the way from the States. Looks a bit modern and complicated for me. They never informed me of the win at all, just paid 30,000 points into my account and eventually sent the camera. OH studying it now - have to charge it via laptop I think as no British plug on anything.
Good luck everyone and keep warm.

I think once its fixed, I will be moving to British Gas myself!

Barnaby sue - Glad your dads tablets are sorted, x

Tea has been sorted too. My Mother-in-law came round with a luxury fish pie mix that she cant use due to father-in-laws allergy to mussels! Added to 2 sea bass fillets in the freezer already (That had been reduced to £1 in Tesco!) It will make a substantial fish pie!

Just popping in quickly I don't know about everyone else but I just can't keep up with all the advents and what have you.

I am glad you got your dad's pills sorted Basrnabysue. My mum has nomad tray for her pills but we have carers for her as I am unable to do what I used to do for her now. We had a call from the agency to say that a carer would definitely arrive but they couldn't say which one it would be. We said that was fine as allowances have to be made in this type of weather.

Hope you get your boiler sorted out soon molly it's too cold to be without heat.

Off to comp a bit again now see ya

Dad's carers are not allowed to do his pills apparently, if it was his normal carer she would, she does a lot that she shouldn't, but she's on holiday this week.

Is anyone else finding the advents hard work this year? There seem to be so many of them, I think Facebook and Twitter have a lot to answer for :) Just finished comps up to 06/12, must try to keep ahead now!
