I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed but with competitions that end at a certain time of day (eg 10/11 @ 1pm) would it be better if these had an end date of the day before in the title? I'm thinking of those of us who work (today's my day off btw ;)) and only do comps in the evening. I tend to do my comps ending that day and then the ones for the following day (if this makes sense) and find a lot of comps have already finished.

Perhaps I just need to do more comps in order to catch up :rotfl:

How do others feel about this?

Now you see, I feel the opposite. I was catching up tonight and went to fill in any that ended today, that I hadn't done already, and someone had already moved them! So if there were any that were still valid till midnight I'll have missed them unless I traipse over to 'Game over':rotfl:

I made a suggestion a while ago that I thought would stop this from happening, skipping a day at first and then moving everything over the day after they end, so todays would have gone over tomorrow morning instead of tomorrows going over tomorrow morning. It stops things being posted with tomorrows date and (00.01) in the title. (Which can be hard to find if time limited, it's easier to open all the pages of comps ending that day (snaplinks in Firefox add on) (when still in the main forum rather than the game over forum) and just look for ones that have been posted on 'yesterday' or 'today' (if you check everyday) as they stand out better than the titles by having a quick look down the 'last post' column)

I agree about the times of ending, maybe it could be introduced into the date format for competitions not ending at the standard time (23.59) (and so pointed out about adding to the title as it's done when it's not posted in the right format currently?) there's not really any need to do it for the ending at 23.59 ones, so for example something ending at 8pm it says 'E: 09/11 (20.00)' (If it's a standard format then everything will be bunched together so easy to find, and if posted with the brackets then they would be in the first few pages for comps ending that day (when sorted with 'Thread Title' 'Ascending').)

This is a good point! But I've noticed there doesn't seem to be any consistency when moving the comps over. Some get moved over the day they end (like you've found today ) and some are on there for a few days then they get culled along with 2 more days worth of comps.

I think I'll just have to try and get a day ahead of myself!

  • Does anyone know whether items that are won in competitions are covered by a warranty?

I was really thinking of electrical items e.g. TVs etc but I suppose it could cover quite a few other things too.

My guess is that it would have to be a manufacturer's warranty as you haven't actually purchased the items.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks in advance

Not quite sure what your problem is Laks I have the latest version of RF v6.10.1 which works in FF v3.612

    there ff page states
By default, the latest version of RoboForm will work with the latest version of Firefox. No additional xpi's are required and this version provides the best user experience.
    ff support page is here

Hi all, i've done a little searching but not sure how to phrase the search to get what I want to come up. How do people search for comps ending when the date is double numbered like today? i.e 11/11 it just pulls everything up with 11 in it - the same happened the past few months 10/10 9/9 etc but i just left out those so thought I would ask this month rather than miss any in future :)

oh and while i'm in here - Lashmi7 posted a comp to win £1000 a day at lakeside shopping centre recently it ends tomorrow night 10pm so 2 more draws but I went there yesterday evening and its easy to enter just a short form and not many entries in the box (maybe 50 at most but likely less) so if anyones close enough might be worth popping over at some point (i'd avoided going over as its called Grotto lotto i thought it was something to do with the grotto over there but its not)

It's probably easier to put the posts in Ascending order, on the main page just above the posts where it says 'Thread / Thread Starter' if you click on 'Thread' then a little arrow pointing downwards will appear next to the word and all the posts will be in order eg E: 01/01, E: 01/02 etc, if you go to (currently) page 47 (it will change slightly as posts are added and removed) then all the posts E: 11/11 are there. I think search only shows up 12 pages maximum, so if there's a day where there are more than 12 pages of posts ending that day (mainly the last day of the month), search won't show them all up.

    HTH :)

Edited to add: It's best to open up all the pages with comps ending that day (eg. E: 11/11) before you start because they do move around a lot as posts are put on the board (plus they might get moved to the Game Over forum quite soon!)

I entered a competition on Facebook on the 'DYLON: Get the Nation Dyeing' fan page. http://www.facebook.com/DYLONFabricDyes

This morning i noticed someone had posted a question on their wall asking who the winner of the 100 pound vouchers was...and Dylon said my name very clearly, suggested i was lucky and said well done!.

Anyway a few hours later they changed their status saying winner would be announced soon...now they have changed their status again...and it's someone else's name that has been announced.

I am very upset as i'd already been mentioned as a winner so obviously thought i had won, and now clearly i'm not the winner and i have commented under the announcement of someone else winning saying i thought i had won and copied and pasted the message stating that i had.

Do they have the right to change the winner like this? I know the page is run by Bottle PR as i have had direct communication with the page owner over a previous comp. I have taken screen shot as evidence and am really tempted to make a complaint to both BOTTLE and DYLON over this unprofessionalism. Can anyone please advise if this is worth my while? I am not a big comper just enter the occasional one through Facebook.

    Thanks in advance.

Show this to them and wait for their reply. Well done for being so smart (I wouldn't have thought of this :o)

    Good luck :T
