I have the message what comes up when u turn the laptop on, it says Windows error recovery
windows failed to start, a recent hardward or software change might be the cause.

That is not likely a HDD fault. Grrrrrrrrrr.... someone is trying to rip you off.

I honestly don't believe that you ever had a HDD failure.

Did you pay pc world for this diagnosis?

The warranty period doesn't affect your rights under the sale of goods act, if it is really a hardware fault, it hasn't lasted long enough, and therefore fails the satisfactory quality test.

A reinstall should cure it, so you either need the vista disc, or a recovery partition (which may not be there if you have had the disk swapped already).

Thought that I had seen that username before. :)

I wonder if she created the Restore Discs....

Funnily enough, this problem could be caused by Dixons replacement of the HDD.

The possibility we have here, closed, is that the machine wasn't faulty at all.

Some corrupted files may have been built up into a major overhaul by certain commercial interests.

I know, you posted a thread about it, which is linked to in this thread about 3 times, and I also asked about it in your "I've bought a 7" window ce laptop" thread

Did you read the responses or donnie's pm's? Without answers and specifics of what you've done, we are going nowhere fast.

I suggest you retrieve the laptop, and spend/allocate a couple of hours trying to fix it with help from people on here.
