Yes, but they can't exclude items from the SOGA, so if the item is faulty they can't refuse to take action (refund, repair or replace).
Now, whether it would apply for an item bought from the Apple App Store I'm not sure... when you buy from the App Store I don't know if you are even getting the 'goods' from the UK, so that would be the first hurdle to get over. If it's not from the UK then the SOGA won't apply and you'll have a much harder job.
Of course, if you just write a letter to them, they might give you something anyway, Apple supposedly have excellent customer service.0
