Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Photogenic Name Dropper
I ordered three packs of batteries from play.com.All arrived in individual, identical boxes, with elastic bands around all three holding them together. When the elastic bands were removed it was obvious two of them had been opened and the contents examined.I removed the contents from the two opened ones without any further opening required. The third identical unopened one was a challenge to open.It was clear someone from royal mail had chosen to see what was in the play.com parcels.I expect if they had been more expensive or desirable they would not have arrived.I have kept the boxes and photographed them as they were when they were delivered.I chose not to complain this time as the contents were not taken, but in future I will be very suspicious about any items that are "lost" in the post.
  • My postman doesn't even both delivering parcels anymore, I just get the red slip posted through the door with my post! I have on several occasions challenged the postman (who appears to be a different one most days) and they just say they can't carry them and to pick it up from the sorting office. Which a) is only open from 8-12.30 and I work from 7.30 until 5 b) is what I pay postage for FOR THEM TO DELIVER IT. I have tried to ring Royal Mail who has an entirely automated Customer Services line and I cannot for the life of me work out how to speak to a 'real' person. I just don't understand why I should have to pick it up from them. If I try redelivery option, exactly the same thing happens! 'We tried to deliver your parcel...' NO YOU DIDN'T, STOP LYING TO ME.

Can you see how much this annoys me lol
;);) Better to say nothing and look a fool than to speak and remove all doubt :D:D

but I don't know whether she received a fine, a caution, a prison sentence - it would have been more appropriate if RM had written a full letter of apology explaining what sanctions had been taken against the employee.
The rather cursory A5 piece of paper which simply said this is your mail it was found at the house of your postal delivery worker
did not make me feel that RM were in the slightest way embarrassed or concerned that their employee had been systematically STEALING from THEIR customers for at least 2 years.

Some acknowledgment of their sincerity would have been nice- and i DON'T mean compensation - before anyone thinks that i do.

But young children had been deprived of help and funds raised on their behalf due to the actions of this employee and that should have been acknowledged appropriately

It's reached the point that when I send birthday cards, I choose them according to size and enclose them in another plain envelope so that they're not recognisable. And never send cash.

A business friend of mine never posts mail in his immediate locale because the theft there is so bad. He drives to another area so the mail goes to a different sorting office.
