If seller fills NPB, and the buyer decides to pay - doesn't seller risk getting a negative feedback? For this reason, cancellation is safer I think.0

They can get neg feedback anyway. If that happens, most ebayers will put 2 and 2 together if seller puts a calm response below the neg. I vote for the NPB-also add to blocked bidders and change your settings to require immediate payment on Buy it Now items. Chances are if you file a NPB dispute they will pay to avoid a strike. If they dont, at least it will flag on their file to warn other sellers-you can set you bidder preferences to block bidders with 2 or more NPB strikes.
Sorry if Im saying what you already know, timewasters aggravate me  I filed a NPB after around 25 days-miraculously the payment was there the next day and item collected too!0 -
If the NPB doesn't pay in response to the dispute, any feedback can be removed. I haven't any experience of this (touch wood) but IIRC it will be removed automatically.
Yes if they do not pay, they cannot leave negative. That's why I said, what if they do pay forced by NPB - then they can leave negative or even worse claim item not as described etc.0 -
That's not worse. They would have to return properly tracked. Depends on how susceptible you are to blackmail though. I was unaware until now you couldn't follow a cancellation with NPB if the buyer doesn't respond. Thanks to cyberbob for putting me staright. That's another silly policy. However, it would encourage me to always go down the NPB route.0

Yes, but my response is generally 'sod 'em'. I'd sooner get a neg and reduce the chance of the prat pulling that on someone else than letting it go.0 -
Thank you all for your replies. I sent a couple of messages to the buyer over the weekend explaining I would have to file a NPB if they didn't pay and recieved a message back from them this morning saying it was easier all round if they just payed and continued with the purchase. That was followed by a paypal payment:).
Thanks Guys:)0
