Buyer doesn't want item, what shall I do?

Options
I listed an item buy in now on Wednesday and it sold at around 10.40am yesterday. I sent and email to the buyer when I got in last night and recieved this reply last night:

'I purchased this item this morning & went through paypal, but ebay is not showing it as being paid for, so I assume you didn't post it today.
As we needed this for Monday, I'd therefore like to cancel my order.'

I am sooo cross. They obviously didn't pay/try to pay for it as I had no notification emails from paypal and I've checked paypal and nothing?? Also, why would they have assumed I would have posted it yesterday. I am just a personal seller selling my old stuff and my listings all say 'dispatched withing 4 days!

What should I do? I want to get the item relisted as quickly as posible if they don't want it. GRRRRRRR

You would have to do a NPB on the winner but this will take time, buyers have up to 7 days to pay unless you specified pay immediately.
To relist as soon as possible you would have to agree a cancellation, or just stick it back on and hope that you get your fees back from the NPB

    Thanks Maria,

Do you know what happens if I put in a cancellation and the buyer doesn't bother agreeing to it??

That's incorrect Macfly the seller cant. If a mutual cancellation is refused the seller is unable to open a NPB so will lose there final value fees.

I would always do a NPB. Ebay doesn't need buyers like that. Have a look on goofbay and see if they've bought a similar item recently

Hi OP you can open a non payment dispute on day 4 and close the dispute and get you final value fees back on 4 days after you open the dispute.
I would open the dispute on day 4 if they still have not paid 4 days later close the dispute and get your final value fee returned and this also blocks them from leaving you any feedback.
I advise also to add them to your blocked buyers list now you can do this with the link below you will need to sign into your ebay account first though.

After the dispute is closed only then would I relist the item.

You can also do a second chance offer to the underbidder.

I'd give him an unpaid item strike and block him.

I wouldn't offer him a mutual cancellation as you have lost out on your original listing fee, you have one relist chance but you would have got that anyway if the item did not sell.

The less of these non paying clowns on ebay, the better.

Definitely do the non paying buying thing on the 4th day, then if they still haven't paid 4 days later, then close it and relist. You'll have to wait the full amount to time to relist, just incase they do pay.

It's not worth risking a mutual.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I'm another one voting for a full NPB.
