Anyone who tells you to 'install' or 'uninstall' a router is giving you the dumbed down version. A router is a computer in its own right and is never a peripheral of your computer.Margaret_Clark wrote: »But it's the first bit that's the problem - getting the new broadband connected. Uninstalling and reinstalling the router was one of the suggestions given if it didn't work so that's why I was going to try it.
If I have read you right, you can log on to the router. Bear in mind you need 2 username and password combinations. 1 is for the router itself and you can choose the password although the username is often fixed as 'admin' and the other is for the ADSL connection and assigned by your ISP.
With your router connected to your phone line, could you tell us what lights are and are not illuminated on the front of the router?
Also, could you give us your linestats to see if your ADSL link is live. Go to http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.ph to find out what the linestats are and how to find them. If your router is not covered, the page tells you waht I am looking for, so you should be able to find this information somewhere in your router config pages.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I had the same problem with my DGN2000 when I switched from TalkTalk to Orange this week. Once you have entered the new id and password and save the changes it wouldn't connect. All that was required was to reboot the router.0

Assuming you can log into the router using the methods above, you'll be faced with the Netgear Smartwizard page. On the left, just under 'Setup' click on 'Basic Settings.'
On that page you'll see the places to input your Plusnet username and password. The username should be something like username@plusdsl.net
This hopefully, should be all you need to do.
If you need to reset the router, there's a button on the rear of the router just next to the power input. You need to hold this until the power light on the front blinks. This will also reset the username and password for the router back to admin/password. You can then log back into the router and run the 'Setup Wizard' on the left menu.
Just for info, I'm also with Plusnet using a DGN2000.Dave. :wave:0 -
