  • Good idea - I like the clear a credit card challenge as that would motivate me more tbh than trying to aim for 10/11k and fail every year. Little goals/targets would maybe be motivational and then can look back over the year and say I paid the card/cc/catalogue off etc, instead of oh well I didn't make £10,000 challenge and get bogged down with it all. Just an opinion, but that's why I haven't been on much because the goal posts were just to far away for me.

Maybe still call it trash to cash but have our own challenges.... trash to clear.... hmmm never any good at titles lol!

how about .................... Trash to cash lets make 2011 debt free heaven?????
The challenge could be to take a personal debt and get it cleared, with using tried and tested methods on trash to cash. Whether its a loan,cc,or arrears this way there is no pressure to reach a goal set by others only by yourself . Others if no debt could try to fund a car ,holiday ect what do you guys think?
wonder if there is anyone on mse who is debt free apart from martin lewis lol
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x

I like that title! The idea's great too although would it get moved to the debt-type forum areas?
Will be more helpful when I've had some sleep... Nearly asleep typing this lol, never went sledging as didn't trust it not to snow on us and have wet cold kids - little one gets really cold - so have had a marvellous day drawing and kids getting more and more rowdy and fed up! Sleeep...xx xx

trying hard i think a lot of people found with the challenge that thats what happened to the money anyway i wonder if we should make it a clean up your finances challenge like have weekly challenges to make sure we say get the cheapest gas, meal out, tickets,tv,and always use quidco and topcash back and see what total or can you earn extra money in 2011 or how about a clear a credit card challenge ???????

    Great idea.
I have a great total and hope to make £5k by Christmas but the money has all got spent along the way the only big thing I have to show for it was a new laptop for OH's birthday so next year I would like to open a special account just for my challenge although the money is not as important as the wonderful people I have met on here and the laughs we have had along the way.
    Jan £10 a day £326.75/£310

The OH works in the bar at the uni so that might be a good idea Elly, thank you! I need to look at what i should be doing about tax - do I need to register as self-employed if it's kind of little bits here and there? I'm not really making a profit tbh, any money is going back into materials, so i don't really understand what I'm supposed to be doing and whether it's going to affect tax credits or anything like that...and I keep avoiding thinking about it because I don't understand it...oh dear!
Agree Rosie it's been an amazing year with lots of laughs thanks to people on here. I think it's done a lot for my confidence which I'm really grateful for. Sure between us we can come up with something great for 2011, I'd love to pay off debts, maybe by the time I go back to work we can be all straight with money and it can all go forward from there. Also without Jo I wouldn't have found out about having ADD. I feel like i can stop having a go at myself all the time and I'm starting to find different ways of dealing with the disorganised way my mind works instead of going round in circles. And you were all really helpful when the OH was giving up the weed (been off it since February!) and I was pulling my hair out, and when my grandma was poorly it was great to come on and have a whinge or a rant and get it out of my head and onto the screen. So glad you're my friends, think next year will be great :) xx xx

  • Good Morning
Joey – Good to see you and well done on the comping – what a massive boon to win the Hasbro Toys perfect timing for Xmas, don’t worry about the eBay money like Tesco say every little helps.

Glad that the frugal living is working I need to be a wee bit more frugal next year too. So glad that you had an illuminating experience in Poland; I want to go to – I was meant to be there for a friend’s wedding but couldn’t get out there in the end.

Paula - I definitely want to do £11,000 in 2011 – I think that I am better set up for 2011. This year has been about learning the business ropes and there are so many little things that I have done or learnt about that save money. Glad you’re not obsessing over the ADD. Sounds like you will be having a busy (and happy) old Xmas J

Elly – bwahahahahahahaha I love Smirkentree can’t wait to see what tales from Smirkentree there will be next year! Like the debt free heaven idea I will do both and see if I can hit 11K J

Nixi – well done on the comping win too – I think I need to get in on the act with the comping you, baby, and Joey have all done really well. I think that starting on the 1st of January on the new thread will be good, then we can make our dribbler resolutions for the coming year. Well done on the Avon sales hun too great news J

Em – poor sick doggy – that did make laugh though lol

Rosie – completely agree about the people meeting everyone has been the best part of this.

Trying hard – that sounds the same as me – all that I have earnt has been used to pay off debt and used for building my business up. So, don’t worry all that matters is that you feel the benefit of dribbling.

With me, I don’t feel one iota of guilt for not hitting the 10K but I know that I worked harder to hit it than if I set myself a lower target. I have only done about a third, but I have faith I will do miles better next year as I have done most of legwork for making next year more of a success.

As for me working on making marketing packs this week, got two wedding invitation suites to get made up and an annual report. And I had a really fun time photographing one couple for their invitations. I will share some of the images in the Ville – not here though...

On top of that will be hiring a studio this Saturday with a mate to play around with cameras and get some more photography practice in. And I need to get my shop stuff photographed this week. So, it will busy but I feel quite excited.

Just feel really happy, and really proud of what I have been able to do because of the support of everyone here. You have been amazing! And I can’t wait to see what all of us will do next year – so excited! 2011 here we come!
